Chesterfield Wellbeing Hub
It has been a pleasure for Southgate & Sarabia Architects to work with Stepnell on the Health & Wellbeing Hub at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The team from start to finish were great to work with, taking a proactive approach on the design and build of the project.
The team pushed for sustainability, which was really refreshing for a contractor to be so passionate about sustainability. It was great for the team to work in a collaborative way, getting involved with events outside the project, which was an opportunity for the teams to work together for a good cause.

Charlotte Street Garages and Shaftesbury Sports Centre
Kane was a very good site manager, working on a particularly unpleasant site. He communicated well with local residents, and completed the work earlier than programmed. Communication was good throughout and all handover documents were sent to DCC shortly after completion. All applications for payment were made on time, and Stepnell supported DCC in issuing interim applications to help with our end of year financial cash flow.

Berrows House, University of Worcester
The University of Worcester has worked with Stepnell on a number of projects since they were appointed to our Medium Works Contractor Framework. This includes recently completing our fantastic new Elizabeth Garrett Anderson building on our Severn Campus. Stepnell has demonstrated it can work collaboratively and innovatively to deliver what the University believes will be an outstanding teaching facility for the future healthcare and medical professionals.

Town Thorns Care Home
We worked with Stepnell on a multi-million pound project to upgrade our care home. They were very caring in their approach and mindful of our residents’ comfort. They updated us daily on progress and possible noise/disruption to ensure works were carried out at a time suitable to us. They managed the project very well considering we were a live care home in times of Covid outbreaks

Stepnell didn’t just tender the best value bid, it was the manner in which their bid was put together, as well as their experience of working in education. At every stage of the process, Stepnell sent all relevant personnel to site and clearly worked as a professional team together with their subcontractors. It meant we knew they had really considered every aspect of the project carefully, putting forward options, really wanting the best for us the client, and therefore our students.
