Tamworth Community Fire Station

The design and construction of a new ‘whole time’ fire station with state-of-the-art operational facilities.

Before works could commence on this £4.4 million project, thousands of tonnes of fill material, much of which was recycled aggregate, had to be imported to raise the overall ground level by some 11/2 metres to suit the levels of the adjacent road network.

The building is of steel frame construction with a variety of cladding solutions that included brick, curtain walling and rainscreen systems.

The station utilises a grey water system to harvest rainwater for use within the building as well as a sprinkler system.

The ‘whole time’ fire station was designed with state of the art operational facilities and was equipped to accommodate 24 hour crews as well as retained and student fire fighters.

It also provides modern fitness facilities, which are used by local community groups.
