Stepnell appointed for £2.1m office development at landmark Leicester waterfront site
Stepnell has been appointed by Leicester-based Brackley Property Developments to build two new riverside offices in the heart of the city’s Waterside Regeneration quarter.
Work is now under way on the £2.1 million scheme which will create new-build contemporary office accommodation a five-minute walk from the city centre. Designed by Leicester architects Stephen George and Partners, the buildings are a key element in the successful City Council-led programme bringing new life and further investment to the wider Waterside area.
The new offices – the 5,583 sq ft Riverside building and 4,940 sq ft Fabric building – will be the latest additions to the Friars Mill office park which has transformed an historic mill complex on the banks of the River Soar with modern workspaces.
Set for completion in May 2019, the two-storey new office buildings will offer purpose-built open-plan office accommodation within walking distance of the Highcross shopping centre and close by Leicester’s inner ring road. Junction 21 of the M1 can be easily reached via the A47 and A5460.
The scheme joins a host of major construction and infrastructure projects now taking shape in the city centre, including a new ‘super crossing’ on Vaughan Way and other highway work to improve the link from the centre to the Waterside area.
