St Richard's Hospice

A challenging project which included sensitively undertaking alterations and new build works, in a live hospice environment

Our works comprised undertaking alterations to the main entrance and reception area which included a new entrance canopy and lobby, remodelling of the reception area and the construction of a new two-storey link building between the existing Snowdrop Centre and the main building.

The new two storey building, West Wing, now links the In-Patient Unit and the Day Hospice around a new landscaped courtyard. A new top floor plant room above the corner staircase serves the new extension, entrance area and Snowdrop Centre.

Construction was a mix of traditional building techniques with Glulam “trees” and structural glazing forming the new entrance canopy. Finishes were to a very high specification. There was an interesting and wide variety of materials used throughout the project with stainless steel and glass sitting alongside American oak finishes.
