The refurbishment and extension of co-educational school, Malvern College’s theatre, which was originally built in 1903

This technically challenging project has seen the total refurbishment of the main auditorium, including the introduction of a new technical gantry level, an upgrade of the AV, sound and stage lighting systems, new flexible staging and retractable seating. The capacity of the space has been increased to 300, the balcony front curved into an attractive sweep and the sight-lines and acoustics significantly improved.

In addition, a new Studio Theatre has been constructed to the side of the existing building. With retractable walls, this provides the college with a flexible space that can serve as a drama studio, performance venue, main foyer, meeting room and café for the students and patrons.

The new facilities have created an environment that is fit for purpose, to assist pupils to continue to flourish in the arts and their non-curricular activities, whilst retaining the theatre’s much loved charm and atmosphere.
