Pathology Laboratory Phase 2, Kettering General Hospital

Northamptonshire

Internal alterations and refurbishment of an existing Pathology Department at the busy Kettering General Hospital

As is often the case within a busy hospital environment, the Pathology department had to remain fully operational throughout the contract.

To facilitate this, the works were subdivided into six sub-phases – each one carefully planned to fit around the day to day operations of the department.

It was crucial that clinical standards were maintained in the remaining occupied areas. Particular care was required to eliminate dust and noise and to control access meaning some works had to be executed ‘out of normal hours’.

The department housed a Bio Chemistry facility containing highly sensitive equipment which would have been disruptive and expensive to recalibrate had it been disturbed or contaminated.
