Motor Vehicle Engineering Workshop

Creating a modern single-storey teaching facility at the further education college’s Abbey Park Campus

This leading edge facility now caters for the growing numbers of learners signing up for motor vehicle engineering courses at the College, which is one of the UK’s largest further education institutions.

Designed by Leicester based Moss Architecture, the building is the first phase of the College’s new vocational Skills Village development.

The new workshop incorporates two classrooms and extensive practical facilities for both cars and motorcycles.

The steel framed building now provides 600m2 of workshop space with facilities for up to 80 learners at one time. Modern and contemporary in design, the front of the building includes a large, arched feature window.

“On behalf of the College I would like to thank you and your team for successfully constructing the new Motor Vehicle Engineering building. The programme of works was challenging with a 6-month period on site. Stepnell’s site team were very proactive and provided excellent customer service from award through to practical completion. In addition, Stepnell’s after care service was excellent.”
