The construction of a new crematorium building in March, Cambridgeshire
This project involved the construction of a single storey crematorium building with associated access roads, car parking and landscaping. The design included an Eternit slate roof fixed to timber rafters, bolted to a steel frame.
Traditional external brick and block cavity wall, with brick tile panels were incorporated and internal finishes to the main chapel and public areas were in oak.
Our works involved creation of a new side entrance crossing an existing drainage ditch, with bulk excavation works to regrade the site levels to form a plateau for the crematorium and memorial gardens above the zone three flood plain. The main memorial garden and surrounding landscape works were carried out at an early stage to give an established landscape structure upon completion, which enabled our client to fully operate from day one of occupation.
