Earl Mortimer College

Leominster

The design and construction of a new £20 million school delivered in a live school environment

Achieving very high energy efficiencies and BREEAM Very Good, this complex building was constructed in a live school environment between the existing school and its sports pitches, delivered in a totally open partnership.

The innovation that Stepnell brought to the Earl Mortimer College was the provision of one of the best learning environments in the country through management of glare and solar gain, and the flexibility in control of ventilation and heating. This provided an exceptional environment in which the students of Leominster could learn without a high energy demand.

The building incorporates sustainable urban drainage, sustainable energy generation (wind turbine) and heat recovery through the use of heat exchange in the ventilation equipment.
