“We are grateful to Stepnell for providing high quality placements for our students as these are a core part of T Levels which are the new Gold Standard of vocational education and training. The students gained an insight in to the workings of a construction company and were able to put in to practice all that they had learned in the classroom and apply it to real world situations. The students found the placement very rewarding and further cemented the students’ career journey whilst supporting them in to a positive destination.”
Hassan Mazhar, Work Experience Coordinator, Derby College Group
“Without companies like Stepnell coming forward to help, we wouldn’t be able to do the things that we do or have the environment that we all appreciate.”

“Oxford Brookes University is committed to providing high-quality accommodation options for its students. The redevelopment of Paul Kent Hall is a key part of this and we are delighted that the University was able to work effectively and safely with Stepnell despite the impact of Covid-19. The improvements to Paul Kent Hall will help to ensure a positive student experience by providing high-quality rooms, enhanced indoor social spaces and a greater range of accommodation options to suit affordability and personal living preferences.”

“Rather like a theatrical production, creating buildings to support the performing arts is a genuine team effort. Stepnell understood this from the very start and it was the cornerstone of their approach. The team worked collaboratively and proactively throughout the construction process as we tackled the challenges of working in and around important historic buildings. For us, they did a great job amidst the most extraordinarily challenging of times – with imagination, pragmatism and good grace.”
Julian Middleton, Executive Director, Aedas Arts Team
“Having worked with Stepnell successfully before, it’s great that the team is now involved in helping create our latest scheme in Wooburn Green. Stepnell’s appointment as our main contractor reflects the quality and competitive nature of its approach to building this development. The team has already made real progress on-site and our existing working relationship will only make seeing the creation and completion of this development that bit easier, whatever challenges come up on the journey.”
Sallyanne George, Development Manager, Lifestory
“Stepnell are appointed on our site at Friar Lane which sits within the Greyfriars conservation area. Early Archaeology investigations presented a curveball to the programme, Stepnell were quick to react to support the additional works required to mitigate time pressure. They worked professionally and courteously with all stakeholders, including communication with the neighbours. On site they have a competent and pleasant team who work efficiently with compliance and safety prioritised at all times. The site is always left clean and tidy after each shift, and due care is taken to ensure any public spaces adjacent to site are kept immaculate. Communication from site management is always clear, concise and to the point. Problem solving, creativity and a quality led focus on getting the job done makes Stepnell the ideal construction partner.”
Hamza Bodhaniya, Director of Operations, Obstrat

“This has been an exciting, complex and risky project for us all. It is a great credit to all involved that the Lodge is now one of the highest rated places for overnight accommodation in the city and will, no doubt, win many awards as well as providing a warm and generous welcome to all who use it. The City Mayor has already publicly commended it as an example of an imaginative and innovative partnership. The trustees and I would, therefore, like to formally thank you for all the considerable time and effort you have committed to delivering something we can all be very proud of.”
Stephen Barney, LDBF Chair, Diocese of Leicester

“Gordon’s School selected Stepnell for our £6m sports hall and all-weather pitch not just because they tendered the best value bid, but because of the manner in which their bid was put together, as well as their experience of working in education. At every stage of the tender process, Stepnell sent all relevant personnel to site and clearly worked as a professional team together, and with their subcontractors; this meant that we knew they had really considered every aspect of the project carefully, putting forward suggestions for value-engineering and really wanting the best for us the client, and therefore our students.”
Susan Meikle, Bursar, Gordon’s School
“Stepnell Limited have completed numerous purpose built luxury student accommodation schemes for Zone. The De Montfort Street development probably was one of the most challenging in terms of timescales due to the late construction start yet the Stepnell team didn’t disappoint and delivered the scheme on time whilst maintaining their commitment to quality. Zone could not have partnered with a better contractor and strongly feel that no other contractor could have completed this project within the timeframe set – a true testament to the Stepnell team. The harmony between Zone and the Stepnell site team through to their head office enabled the transformation of the building into a fantastic luxury student accommodation that I’m sure many students will enjoy for many years to come. It is very evident that Stepnell understand the unique challenges, regulations and procedures that come along with developing high quality student accommodation. I cannot recommend Stepnell highly enough – they have and continue to deliver for Zone – always on time and within budget.”
Neil Thakkar, Director, Zone
