Quality in Education
Stepnell not only deliver the traditionally understood high quality build, but in the field of education we have been recognised as providing an exemplar quality of learning environment. As the design lead on the Whitecross High School Project, Stepnell has delivered a learning environment that improves the ability for the students to learn. The correct temperature is maintained at all times, including in hot summers when the building’s thermal mass absorbs excess heat; correct fresh air ventilation is maintained at all times regardless of the outside temperature, weather or need for blackout in the classrooms; glare is minimised through classroom orientation, furniture and flooring selection and good day-lighting is provided throughout. This quality learning environment was described by Colin Ashford of the BRE as "probably the best or second best learning environment in the country" in 2007.
