Team Selection
Stepnell understands that it is the team that will ultimately deliver the project and safeguard Stepnell’s reputation of “best in class”. Team selection is therefore fundamental to the success of a project, both for client and for the supply chain.
The first priority to Stepnell is to understand the project brief and the order of priority of the client’s requirements. We try to understand this through dialogue and debate to test alternatives and gauge commitment to various competing elements.
Stepnell then selects the team on the basis of team members who are able to meet the client’s aspirations and who can then work with the rest of the team to manage the project risks. Selection is made on value to the project team, as opposed to cost, and Stepnell with its experience in this sector is good at balancing the value of an organisation’s outputs with our input costs.
Interestingly, on a highly competitive project of this type, the best project team is assembled with individuals with the highest level of competency and a wide understanding of how a school is built and operates. This often leads us to the smaller organisations where this all round vision is essential for survival.
