Dashwood
Client:
Oxfordshire County Council
Contract:
NEC3 (Option A, Activity Schedule)

Stepnell were involved in this scheme under the Oxfordshire County Council Partnering Framework where Stepnell were employed as partnering contractor in the construction of a new primary school on a contaminated site to replace the existing Dashwood School.
The new Dashwood School is of a single storey, traditionally built construction on the site of the old cattle market in Banbury. The design includes feature atrium, part cedar cladding and concrete roof tiles. The naturally ventilated structure includes underfloor heating.
Stepnell worked hard with the OCC project team to deliver this project through early concept and design development stages through to site construction despite an early refusal in granting planning permission. Due to this several areas of the design were revisited, redesigned and re-engineered to obtain planning constant. In this process cost options were constantly fed to the project design team by the Stepnell preconstruction team. Stepnell worked with the project design team to ensure the impact on the clients cost plan was minimised.
